GRID President Prof. Joselyn Lobo facilitated a one-day Workshop on Communication and Team Building as part of the two-day Leadership Training Programme for Waste Pickers. The event was organised by HASIRU DALA, an NGO which focuses on the socio-economic inclusion and empowerment of waste pickers, rag pickers and the like all over Karnataka. The programme was held on 26 May 2025 in the green environs of Visthar organisation in Kothanur, Bangalore.

It is for the first time, GRID is facilitating a workshop for the above mentioned target group, a category neglected by society. The group comprised of 50 leaders of waste pickers union and staff of Hasiru Dala spread across Karnataka. The sessions included warm-up game with elastic passing, merry-go-round team building technique and various communication exercises focusing on communication meaning and process as well as art of listening. Mr. Ravichandra, co-manager of social security program assisted Joselyn Lobo in the communication exercises.

Ms. Nalini Shekar the co-founder of Hasiru Dala was present at the workshop and provided valuable insights during her intervention. Ms. Sowbhagya, the Director of Social Security Program coordinated the training.
